What are Web 2.0 Tools?
The term 'Web 2.0' came from the revolution of the internet into a new era. In particular, it was the development of sharing information in new ways. Melbourne University writes that Web 2.0 contains "web sites and applications that allow anyone to create and share online information or material they have created" (2008, p.1). The advantage of the technology is that it allows for people without design or publishing skills to still be able to create, communicate, collaborate and share.
In education, the use of Web 2.0 tools creates a more open atmosphere for students and teachers to learn beyond the classroom and providing tools for engaging and real-time sharing.
